EAST BERNE- Lisa D. Mann-Hannan, 65, passed into eternal life on Saturday, June 16, 2018 surrounded by her family and friends after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
ALBANY- Jean A. Holloway, 86, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018. A proud resident of Albany, NY she was the daughter of the late John J. Fitzgerald and Stella (Skozny) Fitzgerald.
Jean graduated in 1949 from St. Anne’s High School in Albany and then served her country in the US Navy WAVES during the Korean War. Jean returned to Albany in 1953 with her husband, the late James Holloway, to raise her family. Jean worked for New York Telephone compiling the Yellow Pages, retiring in 1996 after 30 years of service.
ALBANY – Anne Perry McCaffrey, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, August 7, 2018. Born January 18, 1932 in Albany, she was the daughter of Henry Perry and Winifred Perry Anderson. Anne graduated from Albany High School and Albany Business College. She was employed with the Catholic Diocese of Albany for many years.
Happily married for over 49 years to her husband James P. McCaffrey (deceased in 2007); she was also predeceased by her sister Elizabeth Russ.
She is survived by her children James “Jimmer” McCaffrey (Rochelle Bostrom), Mary Elizabeth “Liz” McCaffrey and Thomas G. “Tommy” McCaffrey (Kelly Mullen); grandchildren Matthew James, Erica Rose, and Tiarnan Aine McCaffrey; her brother David Perry (Barbara); sister-in-law Nancy McCaffrey and many nieces and nephews.
ALBANY- Vito “Victor” Iannelli, 87, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital, Tuesday, August 7, 2018 after a brief illness. Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of Joseph and Concetta (Guiliano) Iannelli. Mr. Iannelli retired from the Watervliet Arsenal after over 24 years of service. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Albina DiPietro and Vincenta Caminiti. He is survived by his wife Helen (DiCarlo) Iannelli; sons Joseph (Lore) of Lyme, CT, James of Albany and John (Gemma) of San Marino, CA; grandchildren Michael, Claire, John Jr., Nicola and Grant; also many nieces and nephews.
DELMAR-John B. “Jack” Meany, 90, died Saturday, August 4, 2018 after a brief illness.
Born in Albany he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Purcell) Meany. Mr. Meany was a graduate of the former Vincentian Institute and of Siena College. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was retired from the NYS Health Department. He was a Communicant of the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Delmar, NY. Jack was a volunteer and past president of the board of the Friends of Five Rivers and also served as a volunteer at Community Caregivers.
GLENMONT - Joan A. Grady, 84, passed away Thursday, August 02, 2018 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes.
Born and raised in Menands, the daughter of John and Mary (Ryan) Hoffman Bigley, she graduated from Vincentian Institute and St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Grady was a Registered Nurse with St. Peter’s Hospital for 47 years and was the first recipient of the “Nurse of Distinction Award” presented by the hospital.
She had a deep faith with commitment to family, and the community she served in the South End of Albany; this was the focus of her life. A long time Communicant of St. John-St. Ann’s Church, she was an active volunteer at the Church and in their soup kitchen.
NISKAYUNA - Bette (Innes) Stelman Bradway, 80, passed away, Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by her family. Born and educated in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Robert and Lucille VanBrocklin Innes and graduated from Nott Terrace High School class of 1955. Bette was a Registered Nurse in private orthopedic practice for many years. After retirement, she turned to her life-long hobby of genealogy into a profession and became a board certified genealogist. Bette was a member of the New York Society of Mayflower Decedents and held several offices including Governor. She was also the Historian General for the Society out of Plymouth, MA and had the honor of residing in the Winslow House for four years.
DELMAR- In her 104th year, Ruth T. (Schreck) Harbeck, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018. She was at her residence, the place that was “home” since 1941, surrounded by family.
Born and educated in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John and Marjorie (McElveney) Schreck. She was employed by several companies including Postal Telegraph, Woolworths and Winthrop Sterling. After her children were grown, she returned to the workforce and was employed by Legislative Index Company for 30 years. Mrs. Harbeck was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
