ALBANY- Charles H. Jordan "Chuck", 90, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and loved ones on Dec. 11,2017. Born in Buffalo NY and raised in Western New York he was the oldest son of Henry and Helen Jordan. Chuck was a graduate of Medina high school, entered the Army after high school, qualified as a paratrooper, and attended the University of Detroit. Chuck worked for the 3M Company as a Sales Representative in New York State and moved to the Sun Oil Company "SUNOCO" where he had a 33 year career and retired as an Area Manager. Chuck was chairman of the New York State Oil Information Committee, served on the Saint Bernadette's Parish Council, was president of the Saint Bernadette Ushers Society and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Chuck especially enjoyed his grandchildren, manhattans, golf and reading. Always a gentleman, he was admired and respected by many and the twinkle in his eye will be greatly missed.
COLONIE – Jean C. (Zeller) Albert, 79, entered into eternal life Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie (Zelka) Zeller.She was a graduate of the Cathedral Academy. Mrs. Albert was a clerk for the NYS Education Department, Division of Professional Licensing for 20 years, retiring in 2000.She was a Communicant of St. Pius X Church, past member of the Polish American Club Auxiliary and a volunteer with the Colonie Senior Service Center.She loved to fish, shop, cook, play cards and travel, especially cruises.
ALBANY – Christine “Chrissy” (nee Simmons) Morrison, 65, passed away after a courageous battle against cancer at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital, Thursday, December 07, 2017.
Loving mother of John Morrison; dear sister ofMaryhelen Nardolillo (Larry), Suzanne Simmons, Patrick Simmons (Diane), Robert Simmons, Garry Simmons (Ann) and sister-in-law Margaret “Maggie” (Ellis) Simmons; also survived by her partner of over 40 years, James Tupper; her grandson Killian, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Christine was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Winifred (Maloy) Simmons; brothers Michael and Joseph Simmons and sister Winifred “Sissy” Courcelle.
ALBANY- Elizabeth (Perry) Russ, 91, passed away Tuesday, December 05, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Henry Perry and Winifred Anderson. Mrs. Russ was a graduate of the former Vincentian Institute class of 1943 and the College of St. Rose. She was a registered nurse at many area hospitals throughout her nursing career. Mrs. Russ also worked as a nurse in Maine, Virginia and Boston. She was a longtime communicant of the Parish of Mater Christi (formerly St. Catherine of Siena Church).
MENANDS- Sister Maria Capobianco, DC died December 3, 2017 at St. Louise House in Menands.Sister was 91 years of age and 65 years vocation as a Daughter of Charity.
Born in New York City on December 14, 1925, Sister Maria was one of 5 children born to Theresa and Alfred Capobianco.Sister Maria joined the Community of Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul in 1950 in Emmitsburg, NY. Sister Maria graduated from Yorkville High School in Manhattan, NY.She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, MD in 1960 and her Associates Degree in Nursing from Catherine Laboure School of Nursing, Boston, MA in 1974.
ALBANY- Marie (Gutta) Franke, passed away at home on Friday, December 1, 2017. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Jerome and Angeline (Angerame) Gutta, and was a graduate of the former Philip Schuyler High School. Mrs. Franke earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Rose and her master’s from SUNY Albany. She was a music teacher for 15 years with the Albany Public Schools and a second grade teacher at School of Humanities for 17 years. Mrs. Franke was a member of the AARTA, Catholic Women’s Service League, Interfaith Council, the College of St. Rose Alumni Association, Albany Music Teachers Association and the Ladies of Charity. She was a communicant, choir member, cantor and active volunteer at St. Francis of Assisi Parish (formerly St. James Church) and soloist at several area churches. Marie was an Associate of the Sisters of Mercy and an active member of the Mercy choir.
ALBANY-Helen E. (Fox) Curry, 91, died peacefully at her home Wednesday, November 29, 2017 with her loving family at her side.
Born and educated in Albany, she lived her entire life in the South End. She was the daughter of the late William C. and Anne E. (Bensinger) Fox. Helen went to Our Lady Help of Christians Grammar School, then graduated from Cathedral Academy in 1943. She attended Albany Memorial Hospital School of Nursing under the Army Nurse Corps.
ALBANY --- Anna Mae “Annie” Munafo went to her eternal reward on November 28, 2017 at the Teresian House. She was 85.
Born and raised in Troy, Anna Mae married N. Vincent Munafo in 1953 and together they raised four daughters. Afterward, Annie worked at Myers Department Store, Albany Medical College, NYS Department of Mental Hygiene, and finally, NYS Department of Taxation & Finance, retiring in 1994. She was an avid and active member of the Tax Alumni Association for many years.
