ALBANY-Robert J. “Tony” Bouchey, Sr. passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 after a brief illness.
Born in South Troy, he was the son of the late Aloysius and Henrietta (Dwyer) Bouchey. Tony was a graduate of La Salle Institute in Troy and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for the Ford Motor Company in Green Island for 30 years.
Tony was a communicant of Historic St. Mary’s Church and a member of the Albany Elks and the Joseph Zaloga American Legion Post. He had a fondness for football, especially, the point spread, and was an avid fan of the NY Giants and Notre Dame. He loved being surrounded by family and friends and entertaining in the backyard.
Husband of the late Mary Jane (Battaglia) Bouchey; loving father of Justine Contakos (Chris) of Latham, Kimberly Carr (Kevin) of Colonie and Robert J. Bouchey, Jr. of Albany; cherished grandfather of Robert J. Bouchey, III, Marisa Carr, Danielle Carr, Mary Jane Contakos and the late Alyssa Bouchey; brother of the late Noreen Dawson (Ronald); brother-in-law of Deanna Campolungo (Robert) of Burlington, VT and the late Thomas Battaglia (Sandra). He is also survived by his beloved companion, Jo Ann Spadaro and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 1st at Historic St. Mary’s Church, (corner of Pine and Lodge Sts.) Albany. Entombment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with Tony’s family on Wednesday February 28th in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany from 4 to 7 pm.
