ALBANY- Emily G. Tanski, 92 went to her eternal rest on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn.

Emily was born July 11, 1925, in Albany, NY. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ida Witt. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard H. Tanski and her children, Patricia, Mark and John Jewell. She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Alan) Booth, Karen (Nick) Reinagel, Susan (Dennis) See, Shelly (John) Marks and daughter-in-law, Mary Jewell. Emily took great pride and joy in her grandchildren, Kristen (Booth) Naiburg, Courtney (Booth) Henry, Peter, Philp, Eric Reinagel and Melissa (Reinagel) Barton, Kelly Marks and Jessica (Marks) Silverstein and Jacquline (Marks) Dinge. Her great-grandchildren include Hannah, Emma, Jack, Brittany, Bryce, Brooke, Brady, Zander, Rowan, Emerson, Quincy, Christian, Tessa, Aubree, Destinee, Jai Sean, Miles, Skylar, Maeleigh and Jonah, who were among her many treasures. She is also survived by her beloved niece, Janet (Fred) Clark and nephew William (Kathy) Coffey.

Emily worked for the Veterans Administration Canteen Service. After retiring from the VA, she worked for Albany Meals on Wheels well into her eighties. She enjoyed a strong sense of her Christian faith. In addition, to her passion for her family, Emily enjoyed her many friends. She looked forward to Coffee Hour and playing Bingo with her friends at Holy Wisdom Apartments. She was an avid card player often challenging others to endless games of Grump and Rummy.

Her funeral services will be held Thursday, January 11th at 11:00 a.m. in the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 57 Hurlbut St., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family prior to the service from 9:00 -10:30 a.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Interment will follow the service in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.

In lieu of flowers those who wish may send donations to the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit.
