ALBANY- Ann R. (Kampf) Cronin, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late John and Ann (Howard) Kampf. Mrs. Cronin worked for the NYS Thruway Authority and lived in Glenmont for many years. She was predeceased by her husband Robert. Survivors include her children, Karen (Paul) DeRitter, Monica (Mark) Maher, Michael Cronin and R. Daniel Cronin; ten grandchildren; siblings, Joan (Tom) Butman, Suzanne (Roger) Nachbar and Ed (Ann) Kampf; also several nieces and nephews.
DELMAR- George J. Rutnik, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday August 27, 2016. The son of Gregor and Margaret (Zwack) Rutnik, he was born in Albany. George went to St. Patrick’s grammar school and worked to put himself through Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) in Albany. George joined the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, he graduated from Siena College in Loudonville, on the G.I. Bill, with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.
ALBANY-Richard I. Frasier, 85, died Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center.
Born and educated in Springfield, Mass. he was the son of the late Harold and Charlotte (Larabee) Frasier.
ALBANY- John A. Best born June 11, 1950 in Bronx, NY, relocated to the Albany area in 1992 passed away peacefully on August 26, 2016. John is lovingly remembered by his friends and “family” at Catholic Charities Disabilities Services and Center for Disabilities Services.
MENANDS- George O. Smith 65, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Cohoes and educated in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Oliver and Mabel (Graves) Smith.George worked for 39 years as groundskeeper at Albany Rural Cemetery.
COLONIE- John William “Jack” Donovan, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn, surrounded by his family. John was born September 14, 1928 in South Troy, NY, to his late parents, James A. and Mary A. (Ryan) Donovan.
DELMAR- Ida Santa Catalano (nee Muscolino), 88, of Delmar, NY, entered eternal life on August 19, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Italy, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Agatina Muscolino and the beloved wife of 56 years of the late Anthony J. Catalano.
ALBANY- Paula M. Mantica died Thurday, August 18, 2016 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Syracuse and raised and educated in Bethlehem. Paula worked for the NYS Legistative Bill Drafting Commission for several years. She cared deeply for animals, was an avid golfer and loved doting on her great-grand niece Elizabeth. Paula was predeceased by her parents John and Catherine (Cox) Mantica and sister Lisa Portanova. She is survived by her niece and nephews Gregory, Patricia and John Portanova; many cousins and dear friends, especially her “second mom” Kate Russo.
