COLONIE- Louis J. Salvo, 87, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Albany and a graduate of the former Cathedral Academy, he is the son of the late Sebastiano and Domenica (Alberti) Salvo. He lived his whole life in the Capital District and had lived in the Village of Colonie since 1963. Lou was the president of Derson’s Liquor Store in Clifton Park for 30 years.
ALBANY- Diana M. (Sanchez) Penzabene, 83, entered Eternal rest Monday, January 30, 2017 at Albany Medical Center.Born and educated in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Jane McNally and Edward Sanchez. She was a longtime Communicant of St. James Church, and a homemaker. Diana was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.In addition to raising her own family, she baby-sat and cared for many children and was affectionately known as “Mama Diane”.
ALBANY- Katherine E. Austin, 61, died January 30, 2017 after a long illness. She is survived by her 6 children, 2 brothers and 32 grandchildren. Services Wednesday at 11 am in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home. Visitation prior from 10-11 am.
SARATOGA SPRINGS- Richard J. “Dick” Biglow, 64, formerly of Albany, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 30, 2017. Born in Albany and a graduate of Cardinal McCloskey H.S., he was the son of the late Andrew B. and Aurelie (Audet) Biglow. Dick worked as a payroll clerk for the NYS Dept. of Audit and Control for more than 30 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Ballston Spa and formerly a parishioner of St. James Church in Albany. Dick liked to bowl competitively and was an avid fan of all sports especially the NY Yankees. He enjoyed walking in the great outdoors.
ALTAMONT – Raymond J. Lauenstein, 79, died at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Sunday January 29, 2017. He was born in Astoria Queens in 1937 and grew up in the Parkchester section of the Bronx. Only child of Mary Ellen Mahoney and Franklyn Raymond Lauenstein. Graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in Westchester (NY) in 1956, attended Fordham University. Married his much loved wife, Anne Marie Durner , April 8, 1961 (St. Raymond’s Church, Bronx), who survives.
AVERILL PARK – Maryanne C. (Black) Pickard, 42, died Saturday, January 28, 2017 after a 7 year battle with breast cancer. Born in Medina, NY she graduated from Albany High School and Hudson Valley Community College. Maryanne worked for the NYS Department of Tax and Finance for many years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Maryanne enjoyed spending time with her daughter and will always be remembered for her commitment to others.
ALBANY- Vincenzo Aieta, age 62, died and passed into Eternal rest Saturday, January 28, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family and close friends. Born in Montemurro, Potenza, Italy, he was the son of Donato Aieta and Maria Francesca Saponara. He emigrated to the United States in 1990 and held dual citizenship with the US and Italy.
ALBANY- Dennis J. Richardson, 68, passed away suddenly on January 22, 2017.
He was the son of the late Joseph Richardson and Ida Richardson Dodge. Dennis graduated from SUNY Albany with a Bachelor of Science degree and attended graduate school there as well.He played baseball for SUNY Albany and football for the Albany Metro Mallers.
