COXSACKIE – Jane A. (Kirkwood) Palmer, 65, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Albany Medical Center.Born on Staten Island, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Kirkwood and lived in Coxsackie since 1973. Jane had a 30 year career with Amtrak as a statistical clerk. She was past PTO president of Coxsackie-Athens Elementary School and past president of the former C-A Gals softball league. Jane was a die-hard NY Yankee fan and was especially fond of Derek Jeter.
ALBANY- Mary Ann Barton, beloved mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, entered into Eternal life Thursday, March 30, 2017 at age 92.
GLENMONT- Herbert J. Leisenfelder Jr., 89, peacefully entered eternal life on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Born in Albany, he was a graduate of St. James Institute, Class of 1941 and Christian Brothers Academy, class of 1945. He served his country as a radio operator and in air traffic control in the Army Air Corps. discharged in 1947. He was employed by Texaco for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He was also employed by the US Post Office, retiring in 1990. He was also a Communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and the former St. James Church. He was predeceased by his loving parents Herbert and Catherine (nee Ryder) Leisenfelder. He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Agnes Constance (nee Kelly) Leisenfelder; and his loving children Herbert Leisenfelder III (Mayumi) and Noreen Desharnais (John); his cherished grandchildren; Maura, Brendan, Daniel, Sean, Eileen and Kathryn Desharnais and Yusuke and Hinako Leisenfelder.
ALBANY- Anne (Toole) Stallmer, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Teresian House. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Anne (Sheeran) Toole and graduated from the former Vincentian Institute and the College of St. Rose.Mrs. Stallmer was a registered nurse at Child’s Nursing Home for many years and later with the Albany County Department of Social Services, retiring in 1999. She was a longtime Communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of the church Rosary Society.
Menands- Sister Veronica Kuzma D.C died on Sunday March 19, 2017, at St. Louise House in Menands. Sister was born on March 7, 1923 in Beaver Meadows, Pennsylvania. Both her parents immigrated to the US, her father Adam in 1902 from Frankfurt Germany and her mother Mary Theresa from Austria. Veronica is the ninth of ten children. Her youngest sister, Irene, was also a Daughter of Charity. Veronica was baptized in the Byzantine rite.
ALBANY-After a brief illness, Beatrice (Byrne) Flanders, 86, entered into eternal life on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Bea was born and raised in Albany in 1931 to the late Andrew and Margaret (Ellis) Byrne. Bea graduated from Cathedral Academy in 1949 and was a longtime communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, formerly St. James Church. She was employed with St. Catherine’s Center for Children for 25 years.
VOORHEESVILLE – Iris (Bulson) Van Buren, entered peacefully into God’s loving arms at home on Friday, March 17, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born and educated in Troy, one of eleven children to Ira and Edith Bulson. Mrs. Van Buren lived most of her life in Voorheesville and was a long time member of the Voorheesville United Methodist Church. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time decorating their home and tending her gardens.
SELKIRK – Raymond W. Moore, 72, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 17, 2017 at home. Born in Albany he graduated from Albany High School and Hudson Valley Community College and was the son of the late Raymond Moore and Amy Fernandez. Ray worked as a machinist for General Electric in Schenectady for 35 years retiring in 2003.
