ALBANY- On August 28, 2017 at his home on Western Avenue, William J. Reilly, III passed away peacefully. He was predeceased by his parents, William J. Reilly, Jr. and Helen Zoll Reilly and his infant great-granddaughter, Joy. Bill graduated from Christian Brothers Academy and Albany College of Pharmacy. He operated Hamann Pharmacy in Arbor Hill for many years, and retired from Rite Aid Pharmacy.
Bill met his wife, Patricia O’Hara, on St. Patrick’s Day, 1951, at Hibernian Hall in Albany. They married on August 10, 1957. Their children include Maureen and Richard Pagano, Tricia and Joseph O’Brien, William Terence and Jeanne Monaco Reilly, Laurie and John Bebb, Michaela Reilly and Eric Waterman; John Brendan and Suzanne Cowles Reilly, and Patrick Benson and Kathryn Clearfield Reilly; his chosen children include but are not limited to Mark E. Lyons and Walter Piela; twenty grandchildren also survive:Kelly, Kevin (Meghan), Maura, Carly (Brian); Michaela (Trevor) , Erin (Jason) Cara, Jack, Molly, William, (Sunyoung) Dane (Sean) Gretel, Aidan, Brendan, Maeve, Conner, (Galen), Eamon (Kait), Patrick, Ben and Caroline. Great Grandchildren include: Conner, Hadley, Callum, Violet, Everly and Lincoln. Bill is also survived by his brother-in-law, Kevin O’Hara, and sister-in-law, Gail Mayakis O’Hara, of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Fond memories of Arbor Hill include dear old friends Frank and Tom Callahan, Matt Fitzgerald, Bob McGaugh and Gordon Dailey and Father Frank O’Connor.
ALBANY- Brian David Fleming, 52, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Brian was born in Albany and grew up in Delmar. He attended Elsmere Grade School, Our Lady of Angels in Albany and Stowe School in Stowe Vermont.
ALBANY-Diane M. (Leffler) Selig, 70, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital after a long illness.
CHATHAM – Richard E. Oliver, 85, formerly of Albany passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Pine Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Philmont.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Catherine (Gregory) Oliver and was a graduate of the former St. John’s Academy and Hudson Valley Community College. Mr. Oliver was a US Marine Corps. Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1984 from the US Postal Service after 30 years as a letter carrier .Mr. Oliver was a Communicant of the former St. James Church (St. Francis of Assisi Parish).
ALBANY- Myron J. “Mike” Bach, 89, passed away suddenly Monday, August 21, 2017 at home.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Myron and Katherine (Flood) Bach. He graduated from St. Teresa of Avila Parish School, Christian Brothers Academy Class of 1945 and Albany College of Pharmacy, Class of 1948. Mr. Bach was a proud US Army Veteran of the Korean War.He began his career at Lippman’s Pharmacy as a boy behind the soda counter and upon graduating from Pharmacy College continued his employment there as a pharmacist and later as proprietor of the business. Mr. Bach was past president of the Albany Pharmaceutical Association. He was a longtime communicant of The Parish of Mater Christi and an avid sports fan, especially of the NY Giants and Boston Red Sox.
GUILDERLAND- Marilyn (Kane) Ostroff, 92, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. Born and educated in Albany she was the daughter of the late William F. and Elizabeth (McCormick) Kane. Mrs. Ostroff worked in retail sales for many years at the former Flah’s Department Store. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish (formerly St. James).
