GLENMONT - Joan A. Grady, 84, passed away Thursday, August 02, 2018 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes.

Born and raised in Menands, the daughter of John and Mary (Ryan) Hoffman Bigley, she graduated from Vincentian Institute and St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Grady was a Registered Nurse with St. Peter’s Hospital for 47 years and was the first recipient of the “Nurse of Distinction Award” presented by the hospital.

She had a deep faith with commitment to family, and the community she served in the South End of Albany; this was the focus of her life.

A long time Communicant of St. John-St. Ann’s Church, she was an active volunteer at the Church and in their soup kitchen.

Joan was predeceased by her husband Vincent A. Grady; her brothers Charles, Edward and Howard Hoffman and her granddaughter Joanie Marie Grady.She is survived by her children Kevin (Michele) Grady, Michael (Shellia) Grady, Patricia (late Bill) Molitor, Joseph Grady, Brian (Marybeth) Grady, James (Karin Bourassa) Grady and Kathleen (Jeff) Nasner; her grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Shawn, Christine, Melissa, Shannon, Elizabeth, Daniel, Catherine, Jacquelyn, Bailey, Bonnie, Michael, Lauren, Martha, Eleanor, Brian Jr., Spencer, Joseph and Matthew; great-grandchildren Hannah, Lillian, Emily, John, Sullivan and William; her sisters Mary (late John) Moore, Pat (George) Matthews, and Carol (late Bob) Vogt; also survived by her sisters-in-law Bernice Hoffman, Joan Rafferty and Noreen McFarland; her brother-in-law Thomas (Nancy) Grady: and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family Sunday, August 5 from 2-6 pm the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 6 at 9:30 am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
