Rosselli, Gigi Catherine

May 17, 2018

LOUDONVILLE- Gigi Catherine Conboy Rosselli, 67, left this world on May 17, 2018 with a smile and with her beloved husband by her side.

Gigi had bravely fought frontotemporal dementia for three years. The brain disorder sidelined her from the activities she loved and mostly from her decades-long profession as a hair stylist. She was unable to continue managing Giorgio's the Salon, her Latham business.

Gigi was born in Cohoes on April 5, 1951 to parents John Harold Conboy and Dorothy Trudeau Conboy. The youngest of six children, Gigi attended public schools and graduated from Cohoes High School. She always knew she had a knack for hair styling. She obtained her certificate from Austin Beauty School in Albany. Through the years, she took classes in Manhattan to maintain the edge with new cuts and coloring techniques.

She began her career working in hair salons in shopping malls. Eventually, she opened her own salon in downtown Troy with her partner of nearly 40 years, Tom Rosselli. Gigi passed away on the couple's wedding anniversary. Together, they built a business on Troy's Fulton Street where they ran their salon for 20 years. In 1999, they opened Giorgio's the Salon.

Gigi was a draw at work, delighting her clients with her exuberance and passion for life by singing, telling stories and modeling the latest fashions.

She was energetic and enjoyed long walks and dancing. She was outgoing and loved to be around people.

In addition to her flair for hair styling, Gigi's creativity was evident in her decorating skills both at the Latham salon and at the homes she and Tom shared.

In addition to Tom, she is survived by two sisters, Mary Gagnon and Shirley Murray and several nephews and nieces, including Mary Ellen Jeavons, who helped care for her. She was predeceased by her brothers Eddie Macey and Allen Macey and her sister Diane (Tutti) Walco.

Relatives and friends may visit with Gigi’s family on Wednesday, May 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, at Historic St. Mary's Church, corner of Pine and Lodge Streets in Albany. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
