It is with sorrow that we learned of Bette’s death.  I (Carolyn) go back many years when I worked with Bette as an R.N. at Dr. Nelson’s an orthopedic physician’s office.  Not only was Bette a wonderful R,N. and taught me a lot about orthopedics but Bette was an organist, an outstanding cook, a Genealogist and a wonderful friend.  Interestingly, we never spoke about our husbands until a later date and it turned out that my husband, Jerry and her husband Phil, were HAM radio operators and knew each other through many meetings of HAM radio.  Thus, a dual
relationship occurred. We have fond memories of taking Bette and Phil to Lake George for the day and sharing some delicious meals that Bette prepared.  After Phil’s death, we shared dinner and lunch, on occasion, with Bette,  I (Carolyn) have spend several hours on the phone with Bette laughing, reminiscing and enjoying each others conversation.  We send our love, thoughts and prayers to her family.  She will be greatly missed!! May you rest in peace, dear friend. Love, Jerry and Carolyn Crawmer

Anne and I have known Bette and Phil, before he passed away for over 35 years. She was the person who helped me become a member of our General Society of Mayflower Descendants. She also assisted me with making our 3 children, Susan [Young] McCormick; Elizabeth [Young] Weidlich; and David Young, life members of the Mayflower Society and our grandchildren Junior members. She served with me for many year on the NYS Mayflower Society Board of Assistance, while she was our State Historian. She and I are both passed General Officers of the Mayflower General Society, the same 3 years she served as Historian General, which was a real hard volunteer job at that time, I served as the Captain General. She also was the Lt. Gov. of the Alb/Col and served on the Alb/Col Board for more than 35 years, she most always was our Nominating Committee Chair., as she knew ALL of the members.  She was a Certified Genealogist and over the years helped thousands of Mayflower Descendants become members our Society. She also helped create the Elder William Brewster Society and was still an active Director.
In my opinion there will no one that can ever replace Bette for all of the genealogy work that she has done in her lifetime. Good-by Bette, you will always be in our memories. Anne and Art.
