Albano, Joseph A.

GLENMONT- Joseph A. Albano, 88, of Van Allen Apartments in Glenmont, formerly of Lynbrook, NY died at home after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New York City he was the son of the late Alfonso and Giovanniva (Caruana) Albano. He was a WWII US Army Veteran having served in the Philippines. Joseph worked as a salesman for Snap on Tools for many years.

He was a past Grand Knight of the Father John Farrell Council #5962 Knights of Columbus. He was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in Delmar and St. Joseph’s Church in Hewlett, NY. He was also a volunteer for the STARS Program.

Husband of the late Carmella (Campanelli) Albano; loving father of Barbara (Tom) Berkery, Loretta (Angelo) Ruperto, Steven Albano and Valerie (Pino) Bonaiuto. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and his devoted friend Josephine DeMarco. Joseph was predeceased by his siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc. 490 Delaware Ave., Albany on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 3 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. (Please meet at the main gate)
