DELMAR-Lea A. Alfano passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at her home after a short illness. Born in Gloversville, NY she is the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Ruggeri) Alfano. Lea was a graduate of Johnstown High School and Mildred Elly Business School. She was a secretary, retiring from the NYS Comptroller’s Office in 2001 after 30 years of state service. Lea was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Survivors include her son, Michael Alfano; Judy Pomakoy; brothers, John (Patti) Alfano and Joseph (Michele) Alfano; her sister, Dolores (Kirk) Koenig; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Frances (Donald) Adelson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 2, 2015 at 10:45 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl. Delmar. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany on Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. prior to the Mass. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN. 38101-9908.
