ALBANY - Nicola Altieri, 87, died suddenly on Monday, February 24, 2014 at his home. Born and educated in Vitulazio, Italy he was the son of the late Peter and Catherine (Russo) Altieri. Mr. Altieri worked for many years as a tile setter with the Bricklayers Union Local 6, retiring in the early 1980’s. He liked to cook and enjoyed holiday meals with his family and making wine. Mr. Altieri was a communicant of All Saints Catholic Church.
He was the husband of the late Sylvia (Ricciardi) Altieri; father of Catherine (Donald) Schewe of Syracuse, Andy (Cecelia) Altieri of Albany, Nickolas (Marie) Altieri of Loudonville, Roseanna (Michael) Haggerty of Kingston and the late Peter Altieri; father-in-law of Linda Altieri of Voorheesville; grandfather of William, Nicholas, Claudia, Nicola, Nicholas Paul, Andrew, Katie, Alexis and Shannon; great-grandfather of Julia, Ava and Devlin; brother of Rose Dirubbo of Italy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 at All Saints Catholic Church, Homestead St. and Western Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home Inc., 490 Delaware Ave., Albany on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
Those who wish may make memorial donations in Nicola’s name to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
