Bertha Amanat, 90, died peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on Friday, March 6, 2015 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of Galini and Harry Amanat. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers, John and Gus Amanat; her sister-in-law, Goldie, and her nephew Robert Amanat. She is survivied by her sister-in-law, Hellen Amanat; her niece, Diane (Anthony) Geddes; niece-in-law, Carol Amanat; great niece and great nephews, Lee and John Geddes and Michael Amanat and their children Daniel Jr. and Jadeyn Barbero and Michael Jr. and Isabella Amanat. She is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.
Bertha was a graduate of Philip Schuyler High School and Empire State College. She worked for over 40 years at the NYS Department of labor, retiring in 1987. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and had especially enjoyed working with the Trinity Travelers and Zip group for many years. She was a member of the Greek Pontos Society and several ecumenical groups.
Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Bertha’s life at 12 Noon on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany.
