RINCON, GA.- Florence Lillian (Rehmer) Balog, 92, died Thursday, December 17, 2015. Born in Albany she lived many years in the South End, moved to Colonie in 1988, South Carolina in 2005 and Georgia in 2008. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Freda (Kohinke) Rehmer and the sister of the late Ruth Rehmer. She was a 1942 graduate of the former Philip Schuyler High School and continued to keep in touch with classmates. During World War II Mrs. Balog was employed by the Watervliet Arsenal for three years. She then was an assistant secretary to the Woolworth District Manager for three years. Later she worked for the NY Telephone Company for 30 years until her retirement. While living in New York State she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, the Colonie Silver Streakers and the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit.

After moving south to be near her daughter, she enjoyed the outdoors, the beautiful weather, her great-grandchildren and her cherished cat Missy.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda B. Hamilton and her husband Harry Marcus of Rincon. GA.; grandsons, Jesse A. Blount (Tracy) of Bluffton, SC and Brett A. Blount (Sarah) of Ridgeland, SC; great-granddaughters Rachel, Rebekah and Hannah Blount and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 11:30 am in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Holy Spirit Lutheran Cemetery in Glenmont.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Florence Balog may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit Memorial Fund, PO Box 9007, 57 Hurlbut St., Albany, NY 12209 or to Whiskers Animal Benevolent League, PO Box 11190, Albany, NY 12211.
