ALBANY- Mary Ann Barton, beloved mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, entered into Eternal life Thursday, March 30, 2017 at age 92.
She was born in Tiriolo, Calabria, Italy to Maria and Guiseppe Scalzo.When Mary Ann was 6, they immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Rensselaer where she lived most of her life.After graduation from Van Rensselaer High School, she went to work as a secretary and spent many years in that profession.She retired in 1989 from the Anchor Insurance Agency in Albany.
Mary Ann was a beautiful woman who took great pride in her appearance.Her smile would light up a room.She was smart and witty and loved by all who knew her.An avid reader and card player, she also loved traveling.Her family was the joy of her life and she was happiest when they were together.She will be missed more than words could ever express.
Predeceased by her husband, Leonard and her cousin Josephine Grubsick, she is survived by her daughters Theresa (Mark) Morris, Christine Hesler and Maria (Gary) Shuhart; her grandchildren, Courtney (Scott Gliosca) Morris, Matthew, Thomas and Eryn Hesler, Jared (Sonia), Zachary and Kara Shuhart and her great granddaughter, Annabelle Shuhart.
Mary Ann’s family wishes to thank the staff of Cedar and Willow units at Capital Living Nursing Home, for the excellent care they provided to her during her stay.
Friends and family are invited to attend her Funeral Mass Monday, April 3, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. Albany. Burial services will be held privately.
