Bender, Raymond R.

ALBANY- Raymond R. Bender, 89, died Saturday, September 5, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital.Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of the late Arthur and Eleanor (Deinlein) Bender. He served in the US Navy during WWII in the Asian-Pacific, European-African and Middle Eastern Theaters.Mr. Bender was a salesman with Millbrook Bread for 37 years .He was an active member and adjutant of the Nathaniel Blanchard Post #1040, a member of the Guttenberg Masonic Lodge Fellow Craft Club, a lifetime member of the VFW Delmar, a member of Night Owls Organization, the Blanchard Bowling League and the Senior member league.Mr. Bender was also a member of the Armed Guard, Bethany Reformed Church and sang in the church choir.

He was predeceased by his wife Eleanor (Yaggle) Bender and second wife, Elsie (Griffith) Bender; and his two sisters Margy Nancarrow and Jane Van Zandt. He is survived by his children Diane (Richard) Hasenbein, Richard (Barbara) Bender and David W. (Sharon) Bender; his grandchildren Christopher Hasenbein, Jennifer Corazzini, Rachael Bender, David M. Bender and Mark Bender; also survived by three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 11, 2015 in Bethany Reformed Church, 760 New Scotland Ave. Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with his family at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 4-7 pm. Interment Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar, NY. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send donations to Bethany Reformed Church Memorial Fund, 760 New Scotland Ave. Albany, NY 12208 or to the Nathaniel Blanchard American Legion Post 1040, 16 W. Poplar Dr., Delmar, NY 12054.
