ALBANY- Lester Betor, Sr., 91, died suddenly Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Stratton VA Medical Center. Born and educated in Albany he was the son of the late Michael and Sadie (Simon) Betor.
Mr. Betor was a WWII US Navy Veteran.He was the owner and operator of the former Elsmerian Restaurant in Delmar and also managed the Pinehaven and Tall Timbers County clubs. Mr. Betor was a member of the operating engineers Local #106 and a longtime member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
He was beloved husband of the late Dolores Betor; loving father of Lester (Maria) Betor of Glenmont, Neil (Joann) Sutton and the late Shelley Betor; dear grandfather of Stacey (Mark) Duchnowski, Laurie (Phil) Platt, Jordan, Andrew and Shelley Betor; brother of, Michael Betor of Downey, CA and the late John, George, Joseph and Dorothy Betor. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Betor’s family wishes to thank the Silver Team at the VA Hospital, especially his nurse Joyce for their care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 4-8 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. A Trisagion Prayer service will be held at 6 pm..
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 9:15 am from the funeral home thence to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church for service at 10 am. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
