DELMAR-Lillian (Sinnamon) Blanchard, our mother, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016. She was 93.
She was born in 1923 at home, to parents John A. and Veronica S. (Leonard) Sinnamon in Oswego, NY. Our mother was raised in Oswego and White Plains, NY then moving to Albany with her parents and brother. In 1941, she met a fellow while they were both performing in a youth group musical. They were married in April 1943 during a three day leave of our father from the Navy. They remained together until our father’s passing in 1990.
Both or our parents were extremely active in the American Legion. Our mother joined the American Legion Auxiliary where she was appointed as head of many different departments over the years, until retiring her membership in the fairly recent past.
Our mother leaves behind five children. Her three sons, William J. Blanchard, Jr. (Judith), Arthur P. Blanchard (Kathryn), and Charles J. Blanchard (Kirsten); two daughters, Irene C. Blanchard, and Donna L. Dunford (John); as well as six grandchildren, William J. Blanchard, III, Robert H. Moak, III, Michael P. Blanchard, Kevin A. Blanchard, Amanda S. Blanchard and Charles J. Blanchard, Jr.; and seven great-grandchildren, Johnathan, Owen, Chase, Harper, Merrick, Trevor, and Matilda. She will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Lillian’s funeral Mass 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany. In accordance with her wishes there will be no public calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lillian’s name may be made to The Community Hospice, Gift Processing Center, 310 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
