Brian James Carroll

Albany, NY — Brian J. Carroll, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday November 12, 2025. Brian was born in Albany on September 24, 1966 — almost in the parking lot of St. Peter’s Hospital — and was one of eight children of the late William J. and Isabelle “Missy” Kelly Carroll.

A 1984 graduate of Albany High School, Brian went on to study Fine Arts at the College of Saint Rose. His love of art became a lifelong passion; his final drawing was fittingly of one of his favorites, Godzilla.

Brian began a long career as a vigilant advocate for patient care in the business office at St. Peter’s Hospital. He later worked for various organizations, including CDPHP, and most recently served as an IT Business Analyst consultant with Cognizant.

Family was at the center of Brian’s life. He was the person everyone came to for help and advice, always ready to lend support and get someone out of a scrape. His friendship was cherished by all who were lucky enough to know him. He found great purpose in supporting others in their lives and their sobriety, which stood among his proudest achievements.

Brian adored his children and took immense pride in each of their accomplishments, cheering them on every step of the way.

Brian is survived by his wife, Kate; his children Maggie & Vince, Luke, and Sara; his siblings Christine (Tim Gordon), Michele (Chris White), Scott (Christine Motta), Tim (Melissa Jones), Maura (Brian Harrison), and Dan and sisters-in-law Nancy Strohmeyer and Lisa Fabin. In addition to his parents, Missy and Bill, he was predeceased by his brother, William “Billy,” who passed away in infancy. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends.

All are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m., at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany.
