Bulger, Harriet I.

ALBANY-Harriet I. (Pembleton) Bulger, 97, came to the end of her earthly journey on Thursday, February 23, 2017 and her loving husband Donald of 72 years was waiting for her with open arms.

Harriet is the daughter of the late Harry and Louise (Sorenson) Pembleton. She was born in New York City and as a young child she moved with her family to Albany. She is a graduate of Albany High School, Class of 1938. Harriet worked in downtown Albany at Whitney’s Dept. Store and Garrison’s Camera Shop. During World War II she lived in Norfolk, VA while Donald was a sea with the Navy.

Harriet loved vacationing in North Carolina and Maine. She enjoyed family and friends visiting to swim in the backyard pool, a chilled glass of white zinfandel, Take 5 lottery scratch-offs and playing the ponies in the Triple Crown races.

Everyone knew that when that boney finger was being pointed at you, you were in Big Trouble!

In addition to her husband Donald, she was predeceased by her sister Louise C. Pembleton. Survivors include four children, Donald W. (Sally) Bulger, Louise Lennon, Karen Becker and Dennis (Rose) Bulger; grandchildren, William Bulger, Deanna Carras,Donna Silvernail, John Lennon, Patrick Lennon, Peter Lennon, Michael Becker, Michael Bulger, Christine Bulger, Richard Bulger and Kimberly Bulger; 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and Sir Peanut Butter and Jelly her four legged companion affectionately known as Peanut.

A Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also visit with her family prior to the service from 10 – 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
