ALBANY- Joyce (Byrne) Bulman, 87, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Albany Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born and educated in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Grace (Dunnigan) Byrne.
Joyce was a loving mom who stayed at home to raise her five children. She was an active volunteer at their school before joining the workforce with the NYS Office of Mental Hygiene, working for more than 20 years until her retirement in 1989. Her happiest moments were times spent with her children and her nine grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, William J. Bulman, Sr.; a daughter, Carol Bulman; two siblings, Joseph Byrne and Margaret Schermerhorn. Survivors include her devoted children, Bill (Jean) Bulman, Michael Bulman, Nancy (Mike) DeRossi and Mary (Joe) Tremblay; her beloved grandchildren, Erin, Kathleen, Patrick and Megan Bulman, Julie (Owen) Smith, Abbey and Halle DeRossi and Meryl and Lucy Tremblay; her devoted sister, Grace Campbell; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to the nurses and staff of Albany Memorial Hospital and Community Hospice for their compassionate care and the kindness extended to Joyce and her family during her illness.
Funeral services will be held 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany thence to Historic St. Mary’s Church (Pine and Lodge Sts.), Albany where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Joyce’s name may be made to The Community Hospice, Foundation and Central Offices, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
