ALBANY- Albert E. Burkhard, Jr. died peacefully on Sunday, November 06, 2016 at St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Albany, he was the elder son of Albert E. Sr. and Janet V. (Taaffe) Burkhard. He graduated St. Teresa’s School and Christian Brothers Academy, Class of 1951, and earned his degree in physics from Siena College in 1956. He served honorably in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, and was retired from the Office of the State Comptroller following a career as an auditor.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his nephew, the late James F. Burkhard of Delmar. Albert is survived by his brother, William E. (Mary Lou) Burkhard of Slingerlands; nephews, William Jr. of Delmar and Matthew R. of Colonie; nieces, Elizabeth Santella of Randolph, MA and Ruth Pillittere of Delmar, as well as ten grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 11, 2016 at 8:45 a.m. from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. thence to The Parish of Mater Christi where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment in the family plot immediately following the Mass will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with Albert’s family on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
