TROY — Carolyn (Capano) Testo, 91, passed away on February 5, 2024 at Eddy Village Green in Cohoes. Born and raised in Green Island, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Philomena (Miccio) Capano.
Carolyn was a graduate of Catholic High School and St. Peter’s School of Nursing. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy and later, as a school nurse at Troy High School, Hudson Valley Community College, and Russell Sage College. Carolyn was a long-time member of the Italian Community Center in Troy where she enjoyed honoring her heritage. She was also a volunteer at the Joseph’s House in Troy. She was a devout Christian all her life and faithful parishioner worshiping at several local Catholic parishes in the community.
She was an adored “Nonie” to her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Carolyn was the quintessential Italian grandmother; it was tradition for her to host weekend dinners and holidays filled with food and family.
As the family matriarch, Carolyn’s impact is seen and felt throughout multiple generations. Her old-world wisdom, cherished recipes, and special traditions are priceless and will continue to be honored by those left behind.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, of 55 years, Charles J Testo, to which she is finally reunited. She is survived by her large and loving family of four children: two sons and their wives James (Rita)Testo of Wynantskill, and Charlie (Gwen) Testo of Poestenkill, and her two daughters and their husbands, Celeste (Robert) Bova of Waterford, and Marisa (James) Weeks of Guilderland. She has 10 grandchildren: Brandon (Allie) Bova, Benny, (Chelsea) Bova, and Natalie Bova, Dominic (Briana) Testo and Elise (Daniel) DeNyse, Anthony (Samantha Graham) Weeks, Joseph (Sarah) Weeks, Mia Weeks, Sophia (Jordan Hannigan), and Charles Testo.
Carolyn is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, siblings Rosemary, Michael, Anne Marie, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Carolyn’s Mass of Christian Burial on Friday February 9, 2024, at 10:30 am in Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Ave. Troy. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy.
