Casatelli, Mary Nicole

ALBANY- Mary (Ucci) Casatelli passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 15, 2012 at age 90 after a brief illness. Born in Albany, N.Y. on February 14, 1922, Mary was the daughter of the late Carmela (DiNola) and Antonio Ucci, who met in Italy and married after emigrating to America. She was a lifelong resident of Albany and a graduate of Philip Schuyler High School.

She was the loving wife for 61 years of the late Joseph T. Casatelli of Albany; and beloved mother of Victoria (the late Peter) Santiago of Valatie, N.Y., Anthony Casatelli of Albany, N.Y., and Christine Casatelli (Patrick Egan) of Melrose, Mass. Grandmother will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Joseph (Christina), Luke and Antonia Santiago, and Mary, Benjamin and Rose Egan. She is also survived by her sister Theresa (Salvatore) Aiezza of Albany. She is predeceased by her sister Phyllis Memmo, and brothers Felice, Joseph and Dominic Ucci. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mary was a devoted homemaker who adored her family and provided a loving, nurturing home for them. She was a fantastic cook who loved when the family gathered every week for Sunday dinner. She was an active volunteer at St. Teresa of Avila School and a long-time Girl Scout leader. Mary was a skilled seamstress who could create a wedding dress or fix just about anything on a moment
