Cassala, Antoinette M.

ALBANY- Antoinette M. “Ann” Cassala passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Peter’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was a lifelong resident of Albany and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Domenica (DeFranco) Rotondaro. Antoinette was a retiree of the NY Telephone Company and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was also a member of AARP #78 of Albany and a devoted communicant of St. James Church.

Antoinette devoted her life to her family. She will always be remembered as a strong woman whom worked hard, loved to cook, loved sports, playing cards and above all being surrounded by her family.

Antoinette is the beloved mother of Lou Ann (Tom) Novotny and the late Mary Ann (Dick) Hurley; loving sister of Enrico Rotondaro, Richard (Margaret) Rotondaro and Joseph (Darro) Rotondaro of Las Vegas; beloved Grandma Nono of Steven (Nancy) Novotny, Lisa Hurley Fruscio, Daniel Novotny, Richard (Danielle) Hurley and Sara (Ross) Fabregas; beloved great-grandmother of Jared, Thomas and Michael Novotny, Nicholas, Jack and Will Fruscio, Sean and Maya Hurley, Selma, Rowan and Louisa Fabregas. Antoinette is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Antoinette is predeceased by her sisters, Mary (Isidore) Gillete, Emma (Harry) Bonacker, Angie Rotondaro; her brother, Albert (Beverly) Rotondaro and her Uncle, Reverend Anthony DeFranco.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ramon Fabregas for the many times he helped Antoinette over the years and for treating her like family. Thank you to Physician Assistant Murtaza Singaporewala and Nurse Sue Bashford and the rest of the St. Peter’s Hospital 4th floor pavilion for their care of Antoinette during her final days. A special thanks to Mary Margaret Gerry of the 4th floor whom helped Antoinette find peace in the last few minutes. We truly believe you were her Angel.

Our family would also like to thank, Chinessa, Yolanda, Kelly and the entire team of women whom have provided love and care for Antoinette the last few years.

Relatives and friends may visit with her family on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany, NY 12209. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Francis of Assisi, 391 Delaware Ave., Albany, NY at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont, NY
