COLONIE- Catherine Mary Hunter, 71, of Colonie, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Her life was a shining example of loyalty, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished.
Catherine was predeceased by her parents, William and Ann Emerick, and her beloved daughter, Tricia Ann Hunter. She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 53 years, Kevin D. Hunter; her children, Michele (Brian) Whitley and Kevin (Lindsey) Hunter; her sister, Mary Ann (Butt); her brothers, William (Barbara) Emerick and Ronald Emerick; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was a proud and adoring Nana to her grandchildren, Hunter, Liana, Declan, Braeden, and Macie- each of whom will carry her love in their hearts forever.
Catherine’s life was defined by selflessness. She consistently placed the needs of her family above her own, creating a home filled with comfort, joy, and unconditional love. “Nana & Poppa’s” was more than a place—it was a home of warmth and togetherness, where countless cherished memories were made.
Professionally, Catherine dedicated herself to helping others through her work in customer service and support. She spent over 25 years at Golub Corporation, where she formed many lifelong friendships, and continued her career at the Teamsters Local 294 Health and Welfare Fund for seven years.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany, with visiting hours from 4–7 p.m. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 11 am, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery on Route 9W in Glenmont, NY.
In accordance with Catherine’s wishes, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers. Donations can be sent to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in memory of Catherine M. Hunter or visit (stjude.org).
