ALBANY- Charles Joseph Lossi, age 78, unexpectedly passed away on January 2, 2026.
Born February 7, 1947 in Albany, NY.
He was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Macarone) Lossi.
Charles was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) class of 1965. He loved the military aspect of the school, enjoyed listening and playing music in the band, proud of his Italian/ Sicilian heritage and was an avid bowler for several bowling leagues. Charles also developed close friendships at CBA, some of which have endured a lifetime of friendships that he held close to his heart.
After high school he enlisted into the United States Navy, were he served as a radioman during the Vietnam Era, on the USS Arlington. Charles recently and in the past has kept in contact with some of the comrades from his ship. Charles also served in the United States Army National Guard 210th Armor following his naval service time. Charles volunteered his time and assisted with tours on the USS Slater, Albany, NY.
The Lossi Family would like to thank the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany NY, for all their help in caring for Charles' needs and making sure all his time in service was honored and not forgotten.
Charles worked for NYNEX as a lineman/cable splicer for over 27 years and then retired at age of 50. Charles worked tirelessly in August of 1991 working to restore telephone service to the east coast states impacted by Hurricane Bob.
Charles' faith was a source of strength and guidance throughout his life which led him to be an active communicant and usher beginning at St. Teresa of Avila, Albany Stratton VA Medical (Chapel), then to lastly St. Catherine of Siena (Mater Christi Parish). Charles served as the Chaplin at the North Albany American Legion Post, were he was involved in activities and volunteering for veterans at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Hospital and also being a long time member of the Albany Elks.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Dawn Lossi; daughter and son-in-law Mary (Robert) Fitzgerald, daughter Trisha Lossi; granddaughter Samantha (Nick W.) Fitzgerald; grandson John Fitzgerald.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Charles’ family On Monday January 12, 2026 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Mater Christi Church, 40 Hopewell Street, Albany NY 12208. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am in the church.
Rite of Committal will be held at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, 1389 Central Ave, Colonie NY 12205.
