Commerford, Eileen V.

GLENMONT-- Eileen V. (Reith) Commerford, 84, formerly of Albany, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn. Born and educated in Albany, Eileen was daughter of the late John and Sarah (Ford) Reith .Eileen was a loving mom who stayed at home to raise her five children. She was a volunteer for many years at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.

She was predeceased by her husband William H. Commerford, her son William “Billy” Commerford; brothers John and William “Bill” Reith; sisters Anna Fredericks, Veronica “Sis” Devine and Marion Allison. Eileen will be missed by her children Sean Commerford, Sr. (Beverly), Michael Commerford (Lori) Dennis Commerford (Jennifer), and Erin Commerford (Stephanie); daughter-in-law Terri Commerford; brothers Frank Reith (Marie), James Reith (Pat); sister Jean Vaughn (late Robert); sister-in-law Kay Reith; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and extended family.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff of St. Peter’s Hospice Inn for their compassionate care and the kindness extended to Eileen and her family during her final days. In addition, a thank you to her various doctors who cared for her over the years, of special note, Dr. Mark Napier, Dr. Rufus Collea, and Sharon Aragosa RPAC. Mom would also like to thank Bev for all the years of wonderful care she provided.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 29, 2015 at 10:00 am in Historic Saint Mary’s Church on Capitol Hill, Pine and Lodge Streets, Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 4-7 pm. Interment will be on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 12 noon in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eileen’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110 or Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Albany, NY 12204.
