SLINGERLANDS- Margaret E. “Peg” (Ryan) Cox, 90, a resident of Atria Guilderland passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at St. Peter’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. Peg was born in Troy, NY; the daughter of Martin J. Ryan and Margaret E. Ryan.She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy. She married John F. Cox, “Jack” of Albany on August 22, 1943. They were married almost 67 years when Jack passed away on June 9, 2010. During World War II, Peg worked at the Watervliet Arsenal while Jack served overseas in the US Army. She held jobs over the years with NYS Department of Motor Vehicles, Albany City Court and retired from an administrative position with the Albany City School District. She is survived by her daughters; Christine C. Fensley (Bruce) of Southern Pines, NC, Kathleen A. Cox-Morris (Don Morris) of Shaker Pointe at Carondelet, Latham and Colleen M. Hassett (Steve) of Guilderland. She is also survived by one granddaughter Meg Elizabeth Wilber (Rich) of Youngsville, NC and two great-grandsons John Fensley Wilber. and Joshua Arlington Wilber. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Catherine J. Mantica of Slingerlands and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband Jack, whom she is happy to join in Heaven, she was predeceased by her only sister. Peg spent the last four years of her life at her home at Atria Guilderland where she took part in all the activities, especially her beloved bingo games.The family wishes to thank her Atria family for making the past four years so happy for her. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 10:00 am at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave., Guilderland, Family and friends are invited to attend. At Peg’s request there will be no calling hours. Inurnment will take place in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery where her remains will be placed with Jack’s. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondolet, 385 Watervliet Shaker Rd., Latham, NY 12110 or Community Caregivers, 2021 Western Ave., Albany, NY 12203.
