CLIFTON PARK- Lorinda (Pittz) Deitz, 94, was reunited with her family in the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.Born in Knox, NY on July 8, 1922 to the late Vivian (McMillen) Pittz and the late Edward Pittz, she was the fourth eldest of nine children.She moved to Delmar, NY as a child where she lived for the duration of her life.Lorinda attended Elsmere Elementary School and Bethlehem Middle School and High School.
She is survived by her daughter Trina D. Austin and her husband Richard along with their children Gillian and Brendan Austin.Lorinda is also survived by her sister Rosemary Blodgett and her husband Ronald. She was preceded in death by her husband William J. Deitz, Sr.; son, William J. Deitz Jr.; and son Ronald T. Deitz.She was also preceded in death by siblings Helen Rourke, Edward Pittz, Vincent Pittz, Audrey Relyea, Betty Chesbro, John Pittz, and Seward Pittz.
Lorinda worked at Albany Medical Center as a nurse’s aide, and also at American Meters as a welder of Bombs during World War II.Also during World War II she worked at GE assembling magnetic switches for aircraft and as a riveter in San Diego mounting deicers onto airplane wings.
After the war she built her house in Delmar with her husband and brothers, and then dedicated her life to raising her family.She also enjoyed watching her husband Bill pitch in baseball games.She enjoyed camping, boating, gardening, and spending time with friends and family at Sacandaga Lake.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home 490 Delaware Ave Albany on Tuesday January 3, 2017 from 10:30 am prior to the service at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
