Delaney, Loretta F.

SLINGERLANDS - Loretta F. (Kennedy) Delaney, 88, died Monday, January 13, 2014. Born in Albany, she was the only child of the late Edward and Loretta (McCann) Kennedy. Mrs. Delaney was a graduate of the former Cathedral Academy and Mildred Elley Business School. She worked as a secretary for the New York State Department of Civil Service for many years. She was a Communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish (former St. James Church) Mrs. Delaney’s favorite pastimes were eating chocolate and shopping!

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Robert L. Delaney, Sr. in February of 2011 and son Edward Frey Delaney in October 2013. Survivors include her son, Robert (Christine) Delaney, Jr. of Ballston Lake; her daughters, Rose (Cecil) Carter of Selkirk and Laurie (the late Nelson G.) Kenney of Slingerlands; a daughter-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Frey Delaney of Potomac Falls, VA; 10 grandchildren, Kimberly Adams, Susan Kenney, Jason Kenney, Jennifer Doughty, Megan Warren, Robert L. Delaney, III, Rose, Claire, Noah and Kellan Delaney; six great-grandchildren, Jordan Christopher Delaney, Zachary Charles and Colin Robert Warren, Christopher Joseph Doughty, Jr., Aiden Kennedy Doughty and Carmella Marie Kenney; several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 391 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
