RENSSELAER — Dermot John McArdle, affectionately known as DJ, 63, of Rensselaer, died at his home on Monday, September 28, 2026. Born in Albany in 1963, Dermot was the son of the late John L. McArdle and Ruth Fennessey McArdle. A life-long resident of the Capital District, he attended Christian Brothers Academy and SUNY Albany. For over thirty years, Dermot was a treasured employee of the Goldstein Auto Group. Dermot loved spending time with friends, family, and colleagues, who enjoyed his wit and unique sense of humor. He was especially passionate about motorsports and was a member of the Patroon Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America and the Mohawk-Hudson Region of the Sports Car Club of America. Competitive on the track, he was also instrumental in organizing track events so that others could enjoy them too. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his nephew, Eric John Miller.
Dermot is survived by his sisters, Barbara (Scott) Klein and Christine (Kevin) Belden; his nieces, Katelyn Klein and Kimberli (Michael) Deane; his nephews, Jesse (Heather Kane) Belden, Calum
(Carla Pena), Belden, and Jason (Caiti Callaghan) Klein; his grandnephews, Liam and Quinn Belden; and his grandnieces, Madison, Kenslie, and Myleigh Deane and Callia Belden. He also
leaves behind many friends and coworkers who will miss him dearly.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell Street, Albany, NY.
