FEURA BUSH - Dorothy A. Schipano, 93, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her family on Friday, June 26, 2026. She was born on May 13, 1933 to the late William and Alice LaBrun Delaney. Growing up on Livingston Ave, she graduated from Philip Livingston High School. Through mutual friends, she met Anthony Schipano, and while he was on leave from the Korean War, they were married on April 17, 1952. Together they raised their family, first on Trinity Place in Albany before building their dream house and settling in Feura Bush in 1972. Dot was a devoted wife and mother, and was known for welcoming everyone with food because every visit was a celebration. She loved holidays: her home becoming a place of Christmas magic every winter and the entire family always coming together for her big 4th of July parties, which included friends and fireworks. Dot was a life long learner, and self educated herself in many areas of interest, always wanting to learn about something. It was because of this that her passion for cooking was well known by all. She had thousands of recipes saved and would watch the cooking channel, making comments about the food, good or bad. She was an animal lover, not only always caring for her own cats and dogs, but also for all the wildlife around her home. And she especially loved her grandchildren. She loved watching them play and would host cheese parties and while the cheese was mainly for her, she always had a stash of candy and goodies for her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Dot was predeceased by her husband of 72yrs, Anthony Schipano, in November of 2024; her daughter, Dorette Schipano; her brother, Thomas Delaney; her sisters-in-law, Ruth and Yvonne Delaney; and her son-in-law, Robert Rabbin.
Dot is survived by her children, Linda Rabbin, Anthony (Rita) Schipano, Susan (Glenn) Evans, Patsy (Deborah) Schipano, and Vincent (Rachel) Schipano; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, William Delaney; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets, Sandy, Furball, and Treezy.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday June 30th from 10 to 11am at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany, followed by a funeral service at 11am. She will then be reunited with her husband in Graceland Cemetery, “ready or not, Papa”. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in memory of Dot’s passion for helping animals. Condolences can be posted at danielkeenanfuneralhome.com.
