ALBANY- Robert J. Fairley, 82, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late William and Agnes (Mellerstein) Fairley. Mr. Fairley was a graduate of Siena College and the College of Saint Rose. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War serving as a medic in Thule, Greenland. Mr. Fairley worked for New York State as an analyst with the Department of Alcohol and Substance Abuse.
He is survived by his wife Patricia (Grant) Fairley; children Molly (Bruce) Nichols, Elizabeth (Ed) Fahrenkopf, Katherine (Rob) Vogel and Robert (Eileen) Fairley, Jr; grandchildren Peter and Michael Nichols, Matthew, Nolan and Zachary Fahrenkopf, Justin and Ryan Vogel and Emmaleen Fairley; siblings Joseph (Marge) Fairley and Jane (Ken) VanPraag; sisters-in-law Mona, Barbara and Rosemarie Fairley; also survived by many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his brothers William, Richard and James Fairley.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24, 2014 at 8:45 a.m. from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany thence to The Parish of Mater Christi, Albany where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
