Fedele, Joseph F. Sr.

ALBANY- Joseph F. Fedele, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 1, 2016 at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center. Born in Rensselaer he was the son of the late John and Angelina (D’Amore) Fedele.

He owned and operated the Port of Albany Grocery Store for over 30 years retiring in 1992. Upon retirement he went to work as a butcher at Cardona’s Markert in Albany for over 20 years. Joe served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a sports fan of the NY Giants, NY Mets and enjoyed watching golf.

He was the husband of Helen (Cross) Fedele; father of Nina (Chris) O’Brien of Delmar, Helen (Mark) Smith of Glenmont, Ann (Fred) Hasselbarth of Albany, Joseph (Sarah) Fedele, Jr. of Woodlands, TX and the late Nicole Fedele; brother of Salvatore (Rosemary) Fedele, Mario (Thelma) Fedele and the late Rocco, Anthony, Peter and Olivette Fedele and Lucy Mosser; brother-in-law of Jennie Fedele; grandfather of Shannen and Christopher O’Brien, Rachel and Hannah Smith, Abigail Fedele and Zach Hasselbarth. He is also survived by several neices and nephews.

His family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and aides at the VA Hospital for their care and compassion.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday October 6, 2016 at 9:30 am in Mater Christi Church, 40 Hopewell St. Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with his family on Wednesday October 5, 2016 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home 490 Delaware Ave. Albany. Interment will be Thursday in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 12 noon.
