Finan, Stella Macneil

DELMAR-Stella MacNeil Finan, 85, was born into eternal life on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 surrounded by her family at St. Peter’s Hospice. Born in Brooklyn, and raised in Queens, she was the daughter of the late Mary Angela and D. Stanley MacNeil, and the beloved wife of the late John F.X. Finan.

She was the adored mother of Catherine (Michael) Fredette, Gerard (Christine), Jane (Victor) Arena, William, Sean, (Janine) and the late James and Christopher (Bonita), and a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother.

Stella was a graduate of St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, and earned a Master’s degree from NYU, where she met her beloved “Jack”. They settled in Bay Shore, LI and raised their family.

Stella was a friend to all and we will miss her wisdom, beautiful smile and the sparkle in her eyes. She was a diligent volunteer and advocate for people with disabilities and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: WWAARC, ATT: Development Office, 334 Krumkill Road, Slingerlands, NY 12159.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m.
