Flowers-Scott, Filene L.

ALBANY- Filene Laura Flowers-Scott, 63, peacefully entered eternal life, Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital with her daughter and brother at her side. Filene was born on June 27, 1947 to the late Leonard and Julia (Frisco) Flowers. She was a 1965 graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School and later attended the College of St. Rose where she majored in communications. Filene had a prolific career in print and broadcast journalism. She was a freelance writer and wrote opinion/editorial articles for the Albany Times Union. She later worked for the Albany County Dept. of Social Services and immensely enjoyed her position as a case worker helping families during their time of need. She had a passion for reading, gardening, animals and had an amazing ability to connect and communicate with anyone she came in contact with. She will be dearly missed for her spirit and her exuberance for life.

Survivors include her daughter Kelli Kudlack of Selkirk, her brother Thomas (Anne) Flowers of Albany as well as many cousins and beloved friends.

She was predeceased by her son-in-law Jonathan Kudlack. Filene will forever be remembered by family and friends for the bravery and grace she demonstrated throughout her illness.

The family would like to extend warm gratitude to the numerous friends and individuals who assisted Filene throughout her illness, especially the wonderful staff at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital, Mohawk Ambulance, and the Albany Fire Dept.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 4 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home prior to the service from 2- 4 pm. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery, 481 Route 9W, Glenmont on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 1:30 pm.
