Geel, Agnes Pedersen

ALBANY-Agnes Pedersen Geel, 85, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Teresian House. Agnes was born January 27, 1931 in Hudson, NY, daughter of the late Christian and Marie (Lauridsen) Pedersen, sister of Fred Pedersen (d. 2014), Doris Pedersen Vanderbilt, and Christian Pedersen Jr. (d.2004).

She married Charles W. Geel (divorced; d. 2002). Their daughter, Marion Geel, died in 1969;

Agnes is survived by her children Skip Pedersen Geel (Brian Butler), Mia Helligrass, Bo Pedersen Geel (David Orr), and Christian Geel; grandchildren Robert Helligrass, II (Dawne), Adam Helligrass (Sarah) Dane Orr (Anna) and Mollie Orr; great-grandchildren Mackensie, Ashley, Zachery, and Caitlin, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Agnes’s beloved companion of many years, Al Fournier, died in 2011.

After raising her children, Agnes worked at General Electric in Selkirk, the Honeycomb Restaurant in Elsmere, and the Capital District Psychiatric Center. Throughout, she worked for many years as a hairdresser.

Agnes will be remembered for her unending optimism, kindness, and enthusiasm for life. Her greatest love was for her family; her greatest wish was for our health and happiness.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Teresian House, who provided Agnes wonderful kindness and care.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Agnes’s family on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany.
