Gloria M. Gallagher

ALBANY- Gloria Mayer Gallagher passed on Sunday December 21, 2025 at the age of 95. Gloria (Angello) was born and raised in Mt. Vernon, NY, daughter of the late Anthony Angello, late Rose (Mascari) Angello. Gloria graduated from the College of New Rochelle, the third sister in the Angello family to do so. She married and moved to Albany, NY, where she raised five children, went to the College of St. Rose, received her MS in Education and began teaching. Gloria taught at Cathedral Academy, Arbor Hill Elementary School and School 19 before retiring. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her son, Stephen Mayer, her husband, Philip Gallagher, a daughter in-law, Monica Gallagher, and her sisters, Maria Zambelli (Andrew), and Josephine Angello. She is survived by 4 of her children, Barbara Skladanuk, Paul (Donna) Mayer, Tony Mayer, Rosanne (Tony Woodcock) Mayer and her stepson, Philip (Mary Anne) Gallagher; her grandchildren, Justin (Jennifer) Fuld, Jessica (John) Tiffany, Dan Mayer, Tess (Vasu Sojitra) Gallagher, Rose Skladanuk, Sandra Mayer, Alec Mayer, Riley Mayer, Phil Mayer, and Jack Mayer; and 4 great grandchildren, Sean, Stella, Giada and Lucas.

Gloria will be remembered for her compassionate nature, her love of family, her devotion to her Catholic faith and her passion for education, including all the students she taught.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Gloria’s honor at 9:00am on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Mater Christi Catholic Church 40 Hopewell Street, Albany, NY.
