ALBANY-Margaret E. “Marge/Meg” (Colvin) Harris, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Barbara (Leibfried) Colvin. She attended the former St. Ann’s School and was a graduate of the clown school at Hudson Valley Community College where she was known as “Checkers”.
Meg worked for the New York Telephone Company as an accounting clerk for more than 30 years. Meg loved to help others. She was a communicant and active volunteer at St. Francis of Assisi (formerly St. James) Parish where she was a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound. Dressed as Checkers, she would visit and cheer up the residents at local nursing homes. Most recently she was a Welcoming Ambassador for new residents and visitors to the Atria where she had lived for over 3 years. However her greatest passion in life was for her family. From her cherished sons to her beloved great-great-grandchildren, Meg never missed their sporting events or performances and was known for bragging about each one of them to anyone that would listen. She never missed a family reunion, and looked forward to her yearly trips to Kentucky.
She was the wife of the late Charles Nelson Harris; mother of Gary L. (Margaret Elizabeth) Brantigan and Richard T. (Maureen E.) Brantigan; beloved grandmother of Christine M. (Christopher) Williams, Steven T. (June) Brantigan, Terri Beth (Richard) Krauth, Michelle “Shelly” (Kyle) Hendrix and the late Gary C. “Chuck” Brantigan and Denise Engdahl; great-grandmother of Joey, Jessie, Katie, Megan, Ryan, Autumn and Josh; great-great-grandmother of Khloey, Gavin and Kendall Grace; best friend and dear sister of Mary (late Joseph) Nisiewicz and the late Beatrice Burns, Robert Colvin, Edgar Colvin, Clara Smith, Velma Mieleke and Danny Colvin. She is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family would especially like to thank the Nisiewicz family for the love and support they always gave Meg
