Heim, Barbara C.

ALBANY- Barbara (Cross) Heim, 83, passed peacefully, Sunday January 26, 2014 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Born in Burlington, VT, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Aline (Lestage) Cross and graduated from Philip Schuyler High School. After raising her family she worked for the City of Albany and later retired from Albany County Department of Social Services. Barbara enjoyed sewing for family and friends as well as teaching her self-taught art.

She is survived by her children: Donna (Jim) Romano, Peter Heim, Steve (Rebecca) Heim, Jeff (Eileen) Heim, Barbara (Dan) Nelson, Judy (Pete) Libertucci, Matt (Ruth) Heim and Chris (Susan) Heim; her brothers Walter and Gary Cross; 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her brother Richard Cross predeceased her.

Her family would like to thank the 5th floor nursing staff and the nurses at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital for their care given to Barbara during her illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 9:30 am in Mater Christi Church, 40 Hopewell St., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 4-7 pm. Interment will follow be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to a charity of your choice.
