Helen R. Gammel

GLENMONT - Helen R. Gammel, age 102, of Glenmont, NY passed away peacefully at EverGreen Commons on December 31, 2025. Born to Marie (nee Vosahla) and John Ziman in New York City, she previously resided in Indians Fields, NY. Helen graduated from Greenville High School, Class of 1940, and went on to receive an Associates degree from Spencer's Business School in Kingston, NY. She worked at Westinghouse Electric Supply Co. as a secretary for 9 years then left to care for her family. Devoted to her faith, Helen was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church where she was involved in several ministries and committees as well as serving as the church secretary from 1978-1995. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, and bowling.
In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Gammel, who passed in 2017, son, John A. Gammel, and her siblings, Mary and William. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Michele) Gammel, and grandchildren, Michael, Sean (Nina), and Amie Gammel. Funeral services will be Wednesday January 7, 2026 at 11 am in the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church 57 Hurlbut St. Albany. Burial will be in Holy Spirit Lutheran Cemetery, Glenmont.
