MIAMI, FL.-Harold E. “Stumpy” Hempel, 90, died Thursday, August 7, 2014. Born in Rensselaer, he was the son of the late Raymond and Florence (Spoore) Hempel. He had lived for many years in Voorheesville. He was an Army Veteran of WWII having served with Company B of the 532nd Amphibious Regiment. Mr. Hempel was an automotive mechanic most of his life and retired from the Lexus dealership in Miami Florida. He loved dogs and always had a pet at his side.
Mr. Hempel was predeceased by his siblings. Survivors include many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Calvary Cemetery, 481 Route 9W, Glenmont, NY 12077.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Harold’s name be made to Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
