ALBANY- Mary T. (Raab) Henkel, 87, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Teresian House. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late Damian Thomas and Anna (Fox) Raab. Mrs. Henkel was a graduate of the former Vincentian Institute Class of 1947. She worked as a keyboard specialist for the NYS Dept. of Disability Determination for 20 years, retiring in 2001. She was a lifelong Communicant of St. James Church (St. Francis of Assisi) and was very active with the St. James school library and the Girl Scouts. She was an avid football fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Mrs. Henkel was predeceased by her husband, Richard Wayne Henkel and her two infant brothers. Survivors include her four daughters, Joan (Kevin) Schweitzer of Albany, Marie (Terry) Perry of Leesburg, VA, Anne (Matthew) Hofnagel of Albany and Therese (Stephen) Gadomski of Colonie; five grandchildren, Lee Perry, Christine (Marshall) Hofnagel Feaster, Elizabeth Gadomski, Daniel Gadomski and Matthew Hofnagel; one great-grandchild, Elle Feaster; and her cousin Edward Urschel.
The family would like to thank the Carmelite Sisters and caring staff at the Teresian House and The Community Hospice.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 4-8 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc. 490 Delaware Ave.Albany.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 at 8:15 am from the funeral home thence to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 391 Delaware Ave. at 9:00 am where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will follow the Mass in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
