ALBANY- Joan D. (Fox) Jackson, 87, formerly of Gloversville passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at her home. Born in 1926 in Bronx, NY she was the daughter of the late John J. and Jean (Dardis) Fox. She moved to Gloversville, NY at an early age where she attended local schools.Joan graduated from Gloversville High School and then entered into the Medical Technology Program at Albany College of Pharmacy, graduating in 1948.After earning her Bachelor of Science degree, she worked at Bender Hygienic Laboratory as a Supervisor of Histology until 1962. She later worked as a dental receptionist for Dr. Irving Richter of Albany. Joan was an avid reader of mystery novels and enjoyed crafting and crossword puzzles. Survivors include her loving husband Alaric J. “Jim” Jackson formerly of Carthage; her daughter CJ Jackson and her fiancé Ronald W. Casler of Watertown, NY; her son Mark Jackson and his wife Tracy of Voorheesville; her grandchildren, Megan, Travis, Tyler and Timothy Jackson. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held Friday April 11, 2014 at 4 p.m.in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Albany. Inurnment will follow the service in the columbarium niche in St. Andrew’s. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 10 N. Main Avenue, Albany, NY 12203.
