Jevons, Gordon H.

LOUDONVILLE- Gordon H. Jevons on September 21, 2015, God has called to a great life this kind and gentle man passing at home with his loved one by his side, best friend and beloved companion Jeanne Fitzgerald for over 35 years. Born in Canaan, NY, son of Hazel Steuerwald and Frank Jevons, his early life was on Berkshire Farm where his father was a director.

Gordon graduated from SUNY New Paltz, and went on to a teaching career starting in Middleburgh and ending in North Colonie after 35 years of teaching.Gordon also was involved with his father, with harness horses out of Colonie Acres in the fifties. His love of horses has continued with his involvement at Saratoga Polo for 30 years.

Gordon also held a Real Estate license with Picotte and Coldwell Banker.

After retiring from teaching, Gordon and Jeanne ran Mill Road Acres Restaurant for six years. Gordon loved life, a good joke and the friends he met along the way.He was also a member of the Colonie Lodge of Elks and NYSUT.

Gordon was preceded in death by his loving granddaughter Cathryn Blair and dear friend Kelly Fitzgerald whom he joins for all eternity.

In addition to Jeanne, Gordon is survived by his children Gordon (Gloria) Jevons, Jr., Mary Patricia (Jim) Horton, Jeffrey (Chrisey) Jevons, Jennifer (Craig) Blair, Jean Weaver (Brian), Jane (Edward) Cowey and Michael F. Jevons; his 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; Jeanne’s children Matthew, Daniel. Erin, Moira and granddaughter, Lindsay.

Appreciation goes to the Colonie EMS who worked diligently to revive him.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd., Loudonville. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers contributions in Gordon's memory to Siena Women's Basketball may be sent to Siena College, Development and External Affairs, 515 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
