ALBANY — John J. McGraw ("Jay"), 62, passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital on Thursday, July 23, 2026, after a long battle with numerous health issues.
Born to the late John and Patricia (Riley) McGraw, Jay is survived by his sister, Sharon, who was his primary caregiver and was always there to help him with doctor's appointments, shopping, and his everyday needs. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Jerry; two nieces; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew.
Jay was predeceased by his best friend, Bob Minard, and his beloved cats, Cassie and Spooky.
Jay loved watching his favorite football team, the New York Giants, especially alongside his mother before her passing. He also enjoyed going out for breakfast at local diners with his sister, where he always ordered the same meal, “cheese omelet with American cheese”.
Jay spent many years transporting automobiles, with the Albany-to-Boston route being one of his regular drives.
