Jones, Gloria A.

ALBANY- Gloria A. Jones, 67, died Sunday, October 11, 2015. Born and educated in Cooperstown, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Mary (LaMartina) Sapienza. Gloria graduated from the Junior College of Albany and St. Catherine’s Center for Child Care Technicians.She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Stratton VA Medical Center where she was the first recipient of the Heart and Hands Award for Holistic Nursing in 1980.

She is survived by her husband Tony Jones; daughter Ashley Marie Jones (Kent Boettner); grandchildren Maximus, Alexander, Magdalena and Serenity Boettner; Sisters, Santa (Steve) Morris and Lucy (Doug) Robertson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Barbara (Patrick) Hawxhurst.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 19, 2015 at 12:00 noon in The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. Albany. Relatives and friends are invited. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to Gurry Trust Fund c/o Sisters of St. Joseph Development Office, 385 Watervliet Shaker Rd. Latham, NY 12110 to benefit the sisters retirement.
